COURSE DESCRIPTION
Truth be told, there is nothing ‘teeny’ about this race. Sure, it’s a less committed undertaking than its older 100-mile sibling, but this race is going to be tough. In fact, there aren’t many 50ks out there more challenging than this. But if you’re looking for a beautiful, rugged, mountain 50k with stunning views and great volunteers, then look no further than our race.
Though there are no entry requirements, this is not your typical 50k race. Please feel very confident being on your feet for over 12hours and carrying enough water to last up to 3 hours between aid stations. Please note that although there are 3 aid stations, these points are only accessible by off-road vehicle. They are not crew accessible and dropping at one of them would mean a long wait or a hike out. It’s simply not feasible to be shuttling people back and forth on these ‘jeep’ roads.
Because of the remote nature of this course, we will require all participants to run with the following kit:
- A pack/vest
- 30+ ounces of water
- Emergency blanket
- A packable shell
- A headlamp
All finishers will receive a medal. Let's go!
AID STATIONS
#1 Gallagher Head Lake (10.6 miles)
#2 Van Epps Pass (15.7 miles)
#3 Gallagher Head Lake (21.3 miles)
REFUNDS ARE NOT OFFERED FOR ANY REASON
Refunds are not offered for any reason. However, runners may defer their spot to the following year with our Pregnancy and New Child Deferment.
PREGNANCY AND NEW CHILD DEFERMENT
A runner may defer their entry to the following year if they meet one of these requirements:
The runner becomes pregnant after entering the race.
The runner or their partner gives birth to a child in the time between the runner entering the race and the deferral deadline.
The runner adopts a child under the age of 5 in the time between the runner entering the race and the deferral deadline.
The following rules apply to Pregnancy or New Child deferrals:
A deferral gives the runner a spot for the following year’s race which is not transferable.
All qualification requirements for the following year’s race must be met. No exceptions.
The deferral rolls over the entry fee to the next year.
The deadline for requesting a deferral is 60 days before the race.
Please note that time periods for a deferral are designed to support runners and partners who experience changes AFTER they have registered for the race. A runner who is pregnant or has a new child prior to registration is not covered in this policy. Contact the Race Director to request a deferment.
SUPPORTING TRAIL MIXED COLLECTIVE
$10 from each registration will go to the Trail Mixed Collective to support their core purpose of increasing access to outdoor sports for women of color. They believe that approaching new outdoor sports and later, advancing at them, relies on a few things: inspiration from people we can relate to, access to education and gear, safe community spaces, and motivation and guidance from mentors who care. The outdoors is for everyone, and their goal is to help create safe spaces to learn, grow, bond, and excel for women of color. And we couldn’t agree more!
TRAIL SISTERS APPROVED
We have been following the Trail Sisters Approved Standards for years now and strongly support the advancement of women in trail running.
